Diversified Air System’s line of blow back dampers range from 6” to 42” and are of heavy duty construction with custom sizes available.  Blow back dampers are used on the inlets of hazardous collectors. They are commonly referred to as an explosion isolation device, passive isolation device, and passive float valve or deflagration device as defined by NFPA 69.

One of 50 deflagration control devices used at an ingredient company. Blow back dampers were used on the inlet of each of their storage silo tanks. The tanks were also retrofitted with explosion doors. Customer was cited by OSHA and these dampers were part of the solution to comply with OSHA requests. NFPA 69 refers to this type of damper as a passive isolation device known as a passive float valve. Deflagration control should be an important part of every dust collector application.
